Merry Christmas!

This year I "cheated" on our Christmas! Instead of handstamping each of them, I created them using Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio. It worked great, and I love the outcome. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Secret Santa

Lily and her friends decided to have Secret Santas, so guess who gets to help come up with the gifts... yes, me:)  We have been having fun. Luckily, the friend she is giving gifts to is a "newer" friend and does not know that I am a stamper:)

This is one of the gifts Lily gave her:

The box is made from the Matchbox Die (which is retired). Three chapsticks fit in it perfectly!

One More Christmas Card

When I posted the stamped Christmas cards I received this year, I forgot to post this beauty!  This card was made by Julie.  The entire image and white card stock is glittered by (I think) embossing with iridescent ice.  Thanks, Julie!

Christmas Gifts Class

I finally have the samples made and pictures taken for the Christmas Gifts Class that will be on Monday, November 21.  I will be sending out an email with more information.  If you are not on my email list or would like to attend, contact me at karieklundstamps@gmail.com.  

These projects are great for packaging gifts for teachers, bus drivers, secretaries, friends, paras at school, co-workers, etc.  So, make a list!  Okay, now for the projects....

The first is a sour cream container.  It can be made with cardstock and then fabric is tied around it for the ribbon as is done with the red and artichoke.  Otherwise, it can be made with designer paper as is shown with the ornament designer paper below.

Next up is the snowman box.  This is made with the Fancy Favors die cut for the Big Shot and then decorated.  For an idea, a hot chocolate packet, marshmallows, chocolate and a candy cane for stirring fit perfectly in this box. 

The next project is a stocking made from the Big Shot Stocking die and then embossed.  The first picture is more vintage with the red one being more traditional.  I like them both depending on the recipient.  A gift card as shown with the red one fits nicely in this.  There is not a lot of room, so the gift would need to be fairly small.

The last project is a small paper bag.  It is made from the packaging that comes in SU! orders.  To make it this size, I used the scallop square for the Big Shot.  White snowflakes were stamped on and the detail that makes it is the small clothespin that is holding the tag!  Hot chocolate packets, candy bars, candy canes, cookies and more can fit in this. 

Christmas Hayride

No stamping today, but I wanted to share with you some pictures of our Christmas at my parents. We have a tradition on Saturday we have a hayride and go to my family's hunting shack. We stop along the way at a big hill that the kids (and the kids at heart!) slide down. Once we are at the shack (and yes, it truly is a shack, but has heat!), we roast hot dogs and brats over a fire and make hamburgers on the stove. We top off our meal by roasting marshmallows and making smores. It is a lot of fun and the activity that is always at the top of my kids list as their favorite. As you can see from the pictures, there are MANY people in my family, as some are walking and not in the picture and my parents drive out in a truck. Maybe these pictures will turn into a digital scrapbook page?!?

Mug Rug & Decor Elements

This should be my last "Christmas" post. Decor elements were used on this mug and then I created a rug mug from SU's material by cutting it in the Big Shot with the scallop square die. I placed batting between the two pieces of material and then sewed by hand a little "x" with linen thread in each corner, added a button that can be found in the holiday mini and was done! You don't need to know how to sew to do this:)

Candy Cane Paint Can

This is one of my favorite 3-d items that I created this year. I took a clear paint can (found at craft stores) and put a candy cane decor element on it (the decor element is from the holiday mini). I simply cut a real red circle to cover the top, punched out a snowflake and used two way glue on it to add glitter. Ribbons were tied around the handle and a washer is tied to the side to open the can. I filled this one with whoppers, because I really like brown, red and white. This is an easy project. The only thing that takes some time is tying the ribbons, but it is a good task for in front of the t.v.!

Rudolph!

Rudolph the red nose reindeer had a very shiny nose.....

My kids are waiting for Rudolph to bring Santa to our house and they won't have to wait much longer as Santa will be dropping the gifts off Wednesday night!

This "Rudolph" is a project we made in my daughter's class year for their Christmas party. As you can see it uses many different circle punches and the scallop circle punch. The chocolate chip card stock is wrapped around a Hershey candy bar. It's so cute and fun to make.

Monogram Ornament

4 Days in a row posting! Yeah:) I really have been stamping, I just haven't been posting....

It was hard to get a good picture of this with a shiny surface, but trust me when I say it looks better in person! I made a monogram for each person in my family and used colors that fit their personality. This one pictured is for my husband, Steve, hence the "s". To make these, use the Big Shot with the Timeless Type Alphabet dies and vinyl. On this particular one, I used the clear vinyl so the letter looks like it is etched on it. I then tied ribbon on the top and that's it! If you decide to make these, I will warn you that it is a little tricky with the rounded surface and you have to make sure the bulb is big enough. In case you are curious and want to know, for me I did a brown ornament with a clear "k", Lily's ornament was silver with a turquoise "l", a red ornament and a white "n" for Noah, and Carter's ornament was silver with a red "c".

2010 Dominos

Some of you have seen these before, but I wanted to show you my 2010 version! If you have never made these, here are the directions....find an image that will fit on a domino, ink it up with black staz on ink, color in the image with a permanent marker (I use sharpies) and then apply crystal effects over the image. Once the crystal effects is dry, put sticky strip around the outside of the domino, attach ribbon, tie the ribbon at the top of the domino in a knot and then tie another knot at the end of the ribbon to make a loop for hanging on the tree. I like to tie these to the outside of gift bags. They are fun to make, easy and the recipients enjoy them! I am actually having my son's 2nd grade class make these at their Christmas party. I stamped on the domino for them, since the surface is a little slippery. Have fun making these!


A suggestion...even those these particular ones are ornaments, you could turn them into magnets or even necklaces. You don't need to be limited to Christmas and Christmas images!

Individual Smore

Aren't these the cutest things ever?!? They are individual smore packets. I used a small ziploc bag from a craft store to hold the 2 graham crackers, candy bar and snowman marshmallow peep. The topper was easy peasy to make using the scallop square die for the Big Shot (my all time favorite tool!). I then tied a ribbon and added a button. On the back, I attached directions....place one graham cracker on a plate and then layer the chocolate bar and peep on top. Heat in the microwave for approximately 25 seconds, take out and smoosh the other graham cracker on top....Enjoy! These make cute gifts. My kids love to watch the snowman grow big in the microwave.

Candy Cones

I can't believe that it has been a month since I last posted! Where has the time gone? I have many projects to show you, I just need to get the pictures taken and a little "blurb" written up for each one:)

Are you looking for an easy, but cute packaging for candy or other little items? Then, these "candy cones" may be the answer. You can either make them simple or jazz them up with accessories. To make, cut a piece of designer paper 6x6 and then roll it! Attach the two sides using sticky strip and then decorate. These would also work well to place on the table at each person's table setting at Christmas. Let me know if you make any.

Same Layout, Different Colors

These two Christmas cards are the same except for the colors I used. I participated in a swap and was debating between these two. Guess which one won.....yes, the espresso and cherry cobbler card. My favorite color is brown and I use it A LOT on my cards and projects!

I ran the top layer of the card through the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder and then sponged the snowflakes with white craft ink and added the pearls. I placed a strip of sticky strip across the card and then adhered the seam binding by gathering and folding. Merry Christmas was stamped and then punched out with the decorative label punch.

Christmas Stamp-a-Stack

This is a 1 x 1 1/4 Simply Adorned Charm. The great thing about the charms is that you can make inserts and switch them out. You can always have a necklace that matches your outfit! I made this Halloween insert and wore it to Noah's Halloween party. Many people commented on it. I just did a swap, so I will show you some other fabulous inserts in the future. Would you like a class on this?

Happy Thanksgiving!

If you don't see a post from me on Friday, it is because I'm one of the "crazy" ones standing in line waiting for the stores to open to snag some good deals:) If I'm not too tired, I'll get another gift idea posted.

On to today's gift idea. This jar is from Ikea. I decorated the lid, tied a ribbon around it and would fill it FULL with candy if I was giving it as a gift. You may be thinking the reason there are so few m&m's in the jar is because I ate them...well, that is incorrect THIS time. I did not have Christmas m&m's and wanted them to match so I snuck into my kids' Halloween candy and took the green, red and brown m&m's:) This is another quick and easy gift. Just so you know, the large chocolate chip circle was cut with the circle scissors plus and the rest was with punches. The stamp I used is from a retired hostess set. I hope you enjoy!

Hot Chocolate Box

This is a super easy and cute gift to make. Add a tag to the outside of a clear card box and fill the card box with goodies. The tag was made using the Big Shot Two Tags die, with a little piece of designer paper, ribbon and an adorable snowman. Running out of time, but still want to give something homemade to bus drivers, Sunday school teachers, friends, etc? This would be the perfect gift.

Brocade Snowflake

This is the third card we made at the first Christmas Stamp-a-Stack. Craft White was stamped on Kraft and a Rich Razzleberry snowflake was cut out using the Big Shot. A pearl was added in the middle of the snowflake.The pennant was made by using a square punch to make the triangular cut out. Recipe:
